If you've ever worried that fashion and budget couldn't possibly co-exist, you've obviously never been to Anna Marie's funky ShopDevious.com on rapidly changing Grand Avenue. We've slated our lust for handbags here many times, like when we snagged a brand new herringbone and velvet ribbon clutch for $6, or a slouchy purple hobo bag, also new, for $7. Vintage fashion your thing? It's here, and almost nothing in the entire boutique is over $15, with shoes — even boots — for $10. Want to embrace your inner club kid? How about wicked and wild fake eyelashes, in every color of the rainbow, and even some that aren't — like Day-Glo or glow in the dark. Looking for a custom anime wig? Gotcher head covered, along with snap-in hair extensions to match your outfit and bottles of Pixie Glitter for your inner sparkly fairy princess. No, those prices aren't misprints; it's the real deal.
The best part? This stylin' store is open almost every day. Grand Avenue isn't just for First Fridays anymore. (October 2008)

ShopDevious.com owner/creator/founder Anna Marie has roots (sorry) in the wig business. That's obvious from the huge selection of wigs, hairpieces and accessories (think foam heads and double sided tape) at this something-for-everyone spot. But even if your not in the market for a bubble-gum pink bob, you can get yourself a whole new look at her store: There's the most impressive selection of hosiery and novelty eyelashes this side of, well, anywhere. Check out the back room for a very respectable resale boutique with a great mix of contemporary and vintage finds, with just about every-thing priced at $15 or less. The goods are artfully arranged, so if you like it, look for a price tag - that accordion that looks like it might be a set piece? It could be yours, too, for a song. 1229 NW Grand Ave., Phoenix, 602 330 5794, shopdevious.com. (september 2008)
